WHAT CAN I GIVE TO A WORKAHOLIC FRIEND

Workaholics have their own world to move around with. They are very competitive and almost all of them want to work already.  So what can we give to a person who spends his nose on his job most of the time , not appreciating  the world as it passes by.

The best and memorable thing to give him is a much-needed respite or break from his heavy work schedule where he is not given the chance to communicate with his clients, friends or relatives  because he may end up tying himself needlessly over the cellular phone for the next few hours.  Thus, the purpose of giving this break is never accomplished.  Doing away with the traditional gift-giving and encouraging him to join on us in a movie or out of town trip is very unique and special, and the person to whom this special gift is given is surely something worth cherishing and relishing every moment.

A SMELL OF RELAXATION

Aromatherapy is very popular nowadays that it may even serve as a perfect gift to give someone as they can use it in their homes.  It can help soothe the mind, or set the mood and ambience which we want our homes to project.  Known for its medicinal uses, it is actually a perfect gift that no one would even imagine giving to another, yet it can help a lot around the house. Imagine coming home tired and wanting to relax, but the problem is, our nerves are too frazzled that we encounter difficulty in getting a good night’s sleep. Our friends, relatives or neighbours may be experiencing the very same thing which we are feeling.  Giving them aromatherapy oils as a present will quickly ease the tensions in our minds by relaxing it and our muscles.  In a few minutes, we may well be off to dream land, mission accomplished!

DECIDING WHAT TO GIVE AS A HOUSEWARMING PRESENT

When we receive an invitation to a housewarming party, the first question which comes to mind is what present we should give to our gracious hosts. In deciding what we should give to the new homeowners, all we have to do is place ourselves in their shoes, go back to the very first day we set foot in our house, and rethink what we would have wanted to receive had we been the ones who were having the housewarming party.

Sometimes, new owners tend to forget the most simplest and petty things when moving into a new house.  When people move into new homes, they usually bring in furniture, home appliances and clothing and rarely bring in any plants to put in their homes. A simple potted plant can make a great gift, especially if the room is stuffy and needs a breath of fresh air and can even be good for the health of the family.

MAKING A WARM WELCOME

A new neighbour had just moved in the area, and you want to come over and check him out, but then you stop and think on what would you do to make him feel welcome?  The fastest and most easiest way is to just go over and bring some food, preferably from your very own homemade recipes.  There can be no better warm welcome than a personalized specialty dish which your new neighbour would greatly appreciate.    Any person would be flattered to receive a homemade specialty because they know the effort and time put into it.  No person in his right mind will surely turn down this excellent gift which was made especially for him. Furthermore, giving a homemade specialty would make a good conversation piece, and if things play out smoothly, then you and your neighbour can even be good friends later on.  It is a warm welcome, indeed!

The Perfect Housewarming Gift

Many of us have been invited to housewarming parties of our friends , relatives, and neighbors.  The common problem which we encounter is thinking of what is the perfect gift to give them on this occasion.  The safest thing to give to our new home owners would be to give them a gift basket, but what do we put inside?  Well, if they have a garden, we can given them a garden tools basket since they will find these things in handy if they plan to do a little gardening one of these days.  If we are apprehensive of giving this kind of gift basket, we can go for the traditional food basket and pitch in some picture frames and candles which can surely find their place in the new home. Or, if we want to give something unique, we can give them a door knocker which they may find handy and useful to help them determine if there are visitors on the front door.

Gifting

The act of gifting has existed since time immemorial. It is practiced to express your gratitude to those whom you are gifting to. It is usually a big dilemma as to what is to be gifted. When choosing gifts you can think of the following to arrive at a decision of what to buy or make (if making a gift by yourself).

As a first step be clear about the occasion for which you are buying or making gift, then try to recollect what are the things that your friend or relative has as preferences. Understand your financial position and the range which you could deal with.  Once you are clear about these aspects, identify the shop where you want to get the gift from.

There are people who would prefer a homemade gift rather than a gift bought of the shelf from a store. These people feel that they are more loved because you took the pains to make the gift yourselves by hand. It is also important how you wrap the gifts. Use appropriate gift wrappers, for example if it is for a newborn baby boy, you can use blue color and for a new born baby girl, you should use pink color wrappers. The wrong color could portray you in the wrong sense with the people visiting.

Why throw away those buttons!!!

There are quite often those old clothes with beautiful buttons. The clothes might be old, however the buttons on these clothes may not be so old. These buttons can be made use of in creating amazing wall hangings or flower-vase flowers that decorate the houses.

The buttons are very convenient to be reused as decorative art items by making use of them as flowers or by putting them together as a flower on wall hangings.

In order to make these button decors, you need a set of colorful buttons, which can be easily obtained from old used clothes. It would be better to have buttons of varied sizes. You can find them in the coats, shirts, jackets, skirts, etc. You need a sewing needle to stitch the buttons with the petals.

You need a sturdy florist wire to string the buttons together, to draw the flower petals around the buttons you need felt pens, of multiple colors. You need glue to stick the flowers. Cut some craft papers of different colors in the shape of flower petals and in the center put the buttons. Stitch the

petals that you cut from the craft paper and stick them together on a display board, could be an used greeting card that you received for christmas. Stitch the petals by stringing them with the buttons.

Voila you have a button-petal flower on a board, which can be used as a wall hanging. This helps in keeping the kids engaged during their spring break and also helps you to recycle items that you might have unknowingly thrown away.

Stop that Door!!!

This is quite a common shout that one hears in newly occupied houses where one has not installed doorstops. Moreover, gifting is always a difficult thing to do. The worst part is choosing the right gift for the occassion. When visiting someone for their housewarming, I find this gifting idea great. This is a doorstop.

We have often listened to people yell, asking others to prevent the door from banging because of the wind. Well with James the doorstop, you need not worry. James the dorman, is from Black and Blum who produce home accessories in London. James is made of rubber and is a very effective doorstop.

Now one need not worry about the doors banging. With James around you don’t have to worry about the dog leaving the door open and the wind banging the door. James the dorman comes in a variety of colors like black, red, blue, etc. James the dorman costs a mere GBP 13.56.

Use saucers to decorate walls

I know you are thinking that how saucers in which we eat food can decorate the walls of room. Yes, you can. It is really simple. Just buy the most cost friendly white saucers and contact an expert who can cut it into different shapes like bird, butterfly etc.

After you receive the final shapes ask someone to stick something at its back so that you can hang it on the wall. Then do some attractive colors on saucers. It is recommended that you use bright colors to catch the attention. Then find a good wall where you can hang these shapes under a light and see the magic. Just by putting a little money, you can actually decorate your home.
